Born in 1973 in Perth, Scotland, Dionne graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone, Dundee in 1997 with BDes. (Hons.) Degree in Illustration and Printmaking.
Since graduating, with a self determination and a love of colour and texture, she has worked in a wide range of disciplines, including surface pattern design for textiles, architectural rendering and illustration for greeting cards, gift wrap and books. Recently also illustrating a 2005 calendar for Marks and Spencers.
For a short period in 1997, Dionne worked in Italy as a textile designer for the fashion house Missoni. Since turning professional in 2001, Dionne has exhibited widely in galleries throughout Britain. Two of her paintings have recently been accepted by the Bath Society of Artists.
Using watercolour sketches obtained from field trips as reference, Dionne returns to her studio creating mixed media paintings on either gessoed canvas, paper or board. Within her paintings she develops exciting textures of vibrant layers of colour using acrylic paint and oil pastels. Whilst capturing the changes of light throughout the seasons, her technique simplifies and accentuates the shapes and patterns of the land and the rural buildings within it, resulting in distictive atmospheric paintings.
