Helen makes a range of finely cast bone china and basalt objects, such as bowls, cups and spoons, which are simple in form and familiar to everyday life. She interprets the objects in a variety of ways using specially developed casting techniques; each piece is unique. Soft, fluid forms are created by working closely with the natural movement of the Bone china that takes place during the firing process.
Helen combines her studio practice with a variety of creative ceramics & drawing workshops for children in local schools and lectures in the Design department at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Helen trained at Manchester Metropolitan University
(BA Hons. 1997-2000) and UWIC, Cardiff (MA 2000-2001).
She has exhibited at Chelsea Crafts Fair (2003/2004), Egg (London), Designer’s Guild,
Clay Art (N.Wales) and Earth & Fire
(Rufford, Nottingham), amongst others. |
